๐ฌ Laboratory Manager – Calibration & Gas Metrology

Lead the end-to-end delivery of calibration and testing within a high-spec laboratory environment, supplying reference gas standards, calibration gases, and analytical services.
๐ง Key responsibilities
* Manage day-to-day lab operations, staff scheduling, and workload planning
* Direct delivery of ISO 17025, 17034 & 17043-accredited calibration, testing & proficiency services
* Ensure instrument availability through proactive maintenance and calibration scheduling
* Act as authorised signatory for calibration, analysis, and reference material certificates
* Implement monitoring systems to uphold data integrity and metrological traceability
* Evaluate and commission new instrumentation to maintain technical capability
* Liaise with engineers to troubleshoot test system faults and nonconformities
* Oversee CRM and document control systems relating to QA and production records
* Support technical audits, client inspections, and continuous quality improvement initiatives
๐ฏ Technical skills and experience required
* Degree in a scientific discipline or equivalent experience in gas metrology
* Strong understanding of uncertainty, traceability, and reference material production
* Hands-on experience with analytical instrumentation (GCs, FTIR, mass flow controllers, etc.)
* Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025, 17034, 17043 compliance frameworks
* Demonstrable leadership in lab management, team supervision & method development
* Proficient in technical report writing, peer review, and equipment validation protocols
